Many of the mages who appear in Black Clover use a plethora of magical abilities they employ in battle. These characters are renowned for their extraordinary magic abilities, fighting prowess, and overall capacity to win fights.
10 Mereoleona Vermillion
Mereoleona hails from the House Vermillion, one of the most powerful families in the Clover Kingdom. She possesses so much power that Yami is uncomfortable around her. Many regard Meeoleona as one of the best fire magic users and an expert in hand-to-hand combat, with Zora Ideale stating she is a fighter. She can use her fire magic to reinforce her physical strength, durability, and speed.
In addition to her powerful magical abilities, Mereoleona possesses immense physical strength being able to use a solitary punch to send Asta—in his Black Asta form, flying into rocks. Mereoleona is also a master at using the Mana Zone technique to anticipate her opponents’ movements and control the mana surrounding her to unleash powerful fire magic blasts. Mereoleona has the power that makes her believe she can beat five reincarnated elves and Gueldre Poizer (captain of the Purple Orcas) on her own.
9 Fuegoleon Vermillion
Fueguleon was born into nobility and is the first son of the House Vermillion. He is also a candidate to be the next Wizard King. Fueguleon is an expert fire magic user, just like his sister. However, he is also a master tactician and is widely known as the most intelligent Magic Knight. Fueguleon shows his battle IQ in his fight against Rades Spirito as Fueguleon was able to strategically find a hole in his defenses and shoot a fire blast through that hole.
Fuegoleon can make quick work of huge groups of foes with powerful fireballs and focused beams that can vaporize its targets. He also managed to come back stronger after awakening from his coma. Additionally, due to Fuegoleon’s partnership with the Fire Spirit Salamander, his powers have an obscenely high ceiling.
8 Gadjah
Gadjah, being a Spirit Guardian of the Heart Kingdom, is one of the strongest mages around. Gadjah, through his lightning magic, can create and control lightning. He is also an expert at casting discharge spells. Gadjah can also control real lightning by using a special Heart Kingdom Magic technique and his natural mana.

Gadjah has tremendous magic power and can cast incredibly potent spells by drawing mana from the surroundings. Sarado asserts that he is the most powerful Spirit Guardian in. Gadjah easily and swiftly disposes of Hischer Ongg, one of Vanica Zogratis’s Dark Disciples; the same could not be said of his fellow Guardians. Even Julius Novachrono, the Wizard King, recognizes his strength.
7 The Witch Queen
The Witch Queen is the leader of the witches living in the Witch’s Forest. The Witch Queen uses her blood magic ability to produce and control blood. She also uses her magic to aid with recovery. Her charms can reverse centuries-old curses, restore broken bones, and fortify limbs.
The Witch Queen has a great deal of magic power, like that of elves. Her mana completely engulfs the Witches’ Forest and thwarts Ladros’ capacity to absorb and store magic. She blew a sizeable hole in her throne room wall by releasing her mana, showing the level of destruction she can cause with just her mana. The Witch Queen can also cast numerous powerful spells quickly without becoming exhausted, and the sheer force of her power made Noelle Silva’s body tremble in horror.
6 Zenon Zogratis
Zenon is a member of the Dark Triad, a trio of mages who rule over the Spade Kindom. He can utilize two different types of magic: bone and spatial at once. He can use his bone magic to produce tangles of razor-sharp and lethal bones, while he can use his spatial magic to produce mana cubes under his total control.
Zenon is also the host of the demon, Beezlebub, which grants him strong devil powers. He also has 100% access to his devil powers, making him one of the strongest possessors with incredible strength. Even Yuno had to resort to using his Saint Spirit of Zephyr to defeat him.
5 Asta
As someone who was born with no mana, Asta was looked down upon and shunned from a young age. However, his lack of mana did not stop him from training relentlessly to improve his physical strength, becoming one of the strongest characters on the show as a result. Asta possesses anti-magic, which he can use to dispel magic. Despite not having any mana, Asta is an Arcane Stage mage due to the mastery of his Anti Magic energy and the rarity of this ability in and of itself.
In addition, Asta can use Ki, a sixth sense, to detect and respond to originally undetectable threats and people. By controlling his Ki, Asta can also focus Anti Magic in his arm and quickly release it with a downward slash.
4 Yuno Grinberryall
Yuno is Asta’s rival, also wanting to become the Wizard King to cement himself as the most powerful mage in the Clover Kingdom. His talents are undeniable as he quickly rose in rank in his Magic Knight squad, eventually becoming th vice-captain. Many argue that he is more powerful than Asta but what is certain is that he is a better mage than Asta. Yuno has unreal levels of mana which he demonstrates in the early parts of the manga and anime.

Yuno is proficient in wind magic, creating and controlling wind gusts even before obtaining his four-leaf grimoire. He can use his magic to create whirlwinds that incapacitate his opponents and fly through the air. In addition, he can summon the wind spirit Sylph to help him in fights. When he and Sylph achieve 100% resonance, they move to the Saint Stage, a powerful state that only a few Magic Knights can contend.
3 Yami Sukehiro
The first captain of the Black Bull team of the Magic Knights, Yami Sukehiro, is a member of the Yami Clan from the Hino Country. Yami can create and control the element of darkness using his dark magic ability. He primarily uses his katana to channel his magic. His dark magic can attract other types of magic, specifically Light Magic, absorb it into the darkness, and even impact other dimensions.
Yami is classified as an Arcane Stage mage because his Dark Magic has a natural ability to influence other dimensions. Only extremely powerful Clover royals, the toughest elves, and high-ranking devils surpass Yami in terms of magic power. When Anti-birds become aware of his existence, they flee, and even a small display of his power can frighten even the strongest.
2 Licht
Licht is one of the ten Apostles of Sephirah and the head of the Elf Tribe. He was married to Tetia, a royal human, and was the brother-in-law of the first Wizard King, Prince Lemiel Silvamillion Clover. Licht decimates the Clover Kingdom after the Massacre of the Elf Tribe. Licht, after being betrayed, transforms into a demon and decimates the Clover Kingdom after the kingdom’s royals massacre his tribe. The first Wizard King eventually kills him.
However, the Eye of the Midnight Sun successfully resurrected him centuries later. Due to him being born as an elf, Licht has a great deal of magical power. Licht can elevate himself and other people by concentrating incredibly enormous amounts of mana. Licht’s powers are so vast and dangerous that he has no trouble intimidating any opponent.
1 Julius Novachrono
As the 28th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, Julius is the strongest mage in the entire kingdom. Julius controls time using his time magic. He can speed up, slow down, stop, and reverse time. He is able to achieve this feat by stealing time from those he battles. He has saved up his stolen time as reserves, which he can draw upon whenever he pleases.
Furthermore, he can cast a spell that encompasses the entire Clover Kingdom thanks to his incredibly high levels of magic power. He can also “cure” wounds on himself and others by turning back the flow of time. Since Julius’s Time Magic is erratic, his potential as a mage is immeasurable.
