RELATED: Hidden Secrets Many Still Haven’t Found In High On Life
If it sounds a bit bleak, that’s because it is. High on Life excels at planting its tongue firmly in cheek with its world-building techniques, offering the player a wide array of satirical spins on classic role-playing elements to give a completely unique experience. Finding lugloxes can be a bit of a pain, but with a keen eye and the right skills, unlocking these mystery boxes will be simple.
Prerequisite For Gathering Lugloxes in Blim City
High on Life works as a bit of a Metroidvania, meaning that doubling back with new abilities is a key part of its game design. Therefore, it is recommended to collect lugloxes as the player progresses or all at the end once all the abilities have been obtained.
Some lugloxes are right at ground level and ripe for the taking as soon as the bounty hunter claims Knifey. Others are far trickier as they are protected by barriers that only the full arsenal can get past. To claim all the lugloxes in Blim City, it is recommended to have completed the game entirely or at least have acquired all four Gatlians, the jetpack, and the gravity boots.
Lugloxes in Blim City
Here’s a list of each luglox that is available to find in Blim City. There are fifteen of them in total.
First, there is an obvious luglox positioned right in the player’s point of view upon exiting the house. Just before the area where Gene can be found on the bench, a luglox sits next to a lamppost.
Straight off from the previous luglox, the player may notice a sign that showcases the bounty-hunting prowess of the once-great Gene Zaroothian. There is a luglox on top of this red structure next to the sign. Use the jetpack to hop up to the top and claim the luglox on the right side.
From the home base (or the crater where the home once was, depending on how far along the player is in the game), take a right to the area that looks as if it is sectioned off by caution guard rails. Just left before you hit these yellow bars is a small garage alcove where a luglox can be located next to an alien who appears to be relieving themselves.
Now, turn around and exit this small garage area and go past the guard rail section to a sign that almost reads Little Italy but with a little play on words… Go under the banner for this restaurant. There is another small garage area where you can see the ears of a luglox through the window, but the area is blocked. Use Creature and shoot one of his babies into the pipe opening that lies next to the garage containing the luglox.
The jetpack will be needed now. From the entrance of the home, turn left where there’s a small shack/UFO-looking structure. The luglox is on top of it. Simply jetpack to the top and collect the reward.
Head right from the house. There’s an alleyway that leads to a structure with a ceramic dinosaur-looking alien on top. Just around the right side of this structure, a luglox is positioned at ground level.
There is a short staircase on the left that leads to a small path above where the player entered this area. This path runs parallel to the aforementioned entrance, so the dinosaur should be at the player’s back now.
On the right side of this pathway, notice a small green splotch indicating a glob shot can be used to blast it open. Once open, switch to Creature and shoot one of his children into the room. This will open a garage door back towards the staircase. Inside, the luglox is waiting.
From that previous luglox, turn right and notice the square platforms with the red hue. These can be used with Gus’s razor blade ability. Shoot the blades to platform up this wall. The luglox is sitting just on the left, a jump and a dodge boost away.
From this vantage point above this section of the city, there’s another luglox that can be seen sitting on top of a red bridge structure past the dinosaur. Use the jetpack to navigate the way across, or simply platform around using the dodge boost and Gus to acquire the luglox.
Back in the center area of Blim City, there is a blue structure with enormous eyes that overlook the area. There is a luglox up there, but getting to it requires a bit of platforming. Head to the winding staircase that leads up to the pawnshop. Above this staircase is a hookbug. Latch on to it and launch to the hookbug that sits a little higher in the direction of the Blim City Center.
There are a handful of latch points leading up here. Just keep working around using the jetpack and the bugs to leap to the platform just behind the bulging eyes. The luglox is there waiting.
Just left of the twins that allow the player access to the slums, there is a luglox tucked away under the awning of the red structure at ground level.
Just behind Blorto’s stand in the center of Blim City (where the player can purchase warp discs), a luglox is positioned in a clutter.
This next luglox is one of the trickier ones to find. Turn left from this area behind Blorto’s and walk towards the wall behind the light post. Above is a silver wall that indicates the gravity boots can be used to attach.
Use the jetpack and latch on to stand on the wall. Then, platform using the jetpack to the top of the building on the left. There is a pipe atop this structure with a fan spinning inside of it. Use Sweezy to slow the fan and drop inside. There is a second fan which will also need to be slowed. Drop all the way inside and find the luglox within. Push the red button on the left to exit.
Use the same technique to platform to the top of the building with the pipe. Instead of dropping in this time, look up to the structure above where a ceramic alien wears a crown. Use the jetpack to get to the top of the crown.
Straight out from this position, a luglox can be seen in the distance atop a garbage truck suspended in the air. The only way to clear this gap is to use Sweezy to slow the flying car that passes by. Then, platform across using the jetpack and collect the luglox.
Walk to the staircase that leads up to the Pawn Shop. Instead of going up, head left to the dead-end alleyway. On the right side of this alley is a small alcove that holds the final luglox for Blim City.
High on Life is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
