BioWare announced today that, in conjunction with participating retailers, it will be providing free pre-order bonuses for its upcoming fantasy RPG, Dragon Age 2. Those who commit early will receive a free magical blade and an impressive shield. The free weapon is called the “Fadeshear Sword” and will provide bonus damage to demons and the undead. The sword’s abilities will also level up with your character. The shield, known as the “Lion of Orlais,” increases your character’s health while granting a bonus to XP gains....

The initial trailer was a textbook example of short-and-sweet, and it left fans purposefully guessing what Anthem could entail. The game is poised to have a gameplay reveal later today at the Microsoft Press Conference, which should clarify what exactly the soldiers are fighting wiyth their jetpack-powered exosuits. Some gamers were hoping to see the Mass Effect spin-off (for lack of an official title) announced at the Spike VGX, after all the Mass Effect 3 teaser trailer debuted at the 2010 event, but despite new looks at the The Division, Titanfall, and Quantum Break (among others), there was no Mass Effect announcement from BioWare. However, according to BioWare General Manager, Aaryn Flynn, the studio is hoping to provide gamers with some tangible answers to their Mass Effect franchise questions in 2014....

Posting a cryptic tweet with the hashtag “MassRelays,” BioWare dropped a video containing the opening crawl that introduces the first game as well as a picture of the cover art serenaded by the title’s main theme song. While it’s fairly common for BioWare to talk about the Mass Effect trilogy, there’s something strange about the teaser, with many fans believing that it could be alluding to a highly-requested remaster of the iconic trilogy....

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Anthem producer Michael Gamble told them not to worry about the possibility of EA shutting down BioWare. “Lots of folks are playing Anthem,” he explained, and pointed out that the studio has already announced its plans to continue supporting the game as a live service title. Gamble stated that BioWare is getting “great support,” but didn’t clarify if that support is from fans or EA itself....

The entire interview is very enlightening, and it is fascinating to see what drives a company like BioWare to create great games time and time again. One aspect that might capture everyone’s attention is the potential for BioWare to create a non sci-fi or fantasy based game....
